My students currently engage in 2 to 3 recitals per year, which allows for nice performance opportunities, socializing, and co-inspiration and growth.

In my lessons, I emphasize the core musicianship skills of building a healthy, fluid and easy techique free from physical blocks, core musicianship, theory and sight-reading skills, and emphasis on being nourished by the great master Classical composers of the Western tradition. I seek to encourage healthy study which benefits the mind, ear and spirit most, so I base my philosophy of learning, as early as age and technique will allow, the study of the music of Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy and Bartok, to name a few.

Composition students will study counterpoint, analysis, form, and orchestration, and there can also be an emphasis on electronic music and composing on the computer and for the home music studio. The lesson will be conducted from the point of view of ready reference to earlier masterworks with a proven record of being gold standards in each area.
